Mr. Michael Schiemann was selected to receive Lutheran Education Association’s Distinguished Lutheran Elementary Administrator Award. Mr. Schiemann has been our Principal here at Forest Hills since 2014. He previously served at Lutheran schools in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ohio. He has also served in a variety of leadership roles in local, district, and national ministries. In 2019, Mike was honored with the Northwest District Distinguished Administrator Award.
Mike earned a B.A. in Music and a B.E. in Education from Concordia University of Edmonton and an M.S. in Education Administration from Concordia University of Wisconsin.
Mike is passionate about his calling and loves nothing more than sharing Jesus with his students and staff. “My greatest joy is when someone hears about Jesus for the first time! I love seeing how those involved in our Lutheran School are truly part of our family. When there are hard times, the family surrounds one another in prayer and the Word. Seeing seeds of faith planted and watered is by far my greatest joy!” Mike puts all he has into his school community; staff, students, and families alike.
When faced with challenges Mike’s faith never waivers. “Even in the midst of COVID, God is blessing me and our school beyond belief. Each time we have a need, God steps in.” In times of difficulty Mike remains faithful, remembering his own mission statement “In all things, with all people, may God be praised.”
In support of Mike’s nomination colleagues had much to say! One colleague expressed, “My impression of Mike after a number of years and many hours together has not changed, just grown in depth of experiences and encounters that reaffirm to me his care for and investment in his students and families, staff and volunteers. Mike has had a major impact on our school and church communities as a whole an don many lives as individuals.”
Another colleague shared, ” Mike is extremely supportive of others in a wide variety of situations and truly brings out the best in others. He has a wonderful ability to be able to view so many things from a variety of perspectives.”
Mike’s official nominator shared some glowing words of recognition and admiration, “Mike’s high standards for staff performance and school overall quality have resulted in exceptional results. Mike has inspired excellence, a service mindset, and a tireless model of what a humble Christian servant is to be.”
At Forest Hills we are honored to have a Principal like Mr. Schiemann, whose strong commitment to serving Jesus Christ, his excellence and effectiveness in teaching, his leadership, and the professionalism he exhibits, is seen and felt by our community every day!
