Fine Arts

Forest Hills students have many opportunities throughout the year to participate in the fine arts of music, art and drama. The school is blessed with facilities which support the program, talented staff members and volunteers who make the program happen and an enthusiastic audience who appreciate talented performances.

The Art Space is a special classroom, located in the middle school building where many art activities happen. Nearby is the ceramics kiln which is used frequently for a variety of projects.  Students in K-5 participate in weekly art classes taught by an art teacher, and art is offered to middle school students as an elective.

The Music Room in the Dobbin Center is used for music classes, band rehearsals and for small group sessions. Primary and intermediate students have twice-weekly music classes in this room.

The gym next door is the scene of many performances. Roll-out stage, sound equipment and special lighting aid dramatic productions. The Middle School Choir is an all-year elective class which meets twice weekly and sings at special events and the Lutheran Elementary School Tournament (LEST).

Forest Hills students support the Fine Arts program with the annual Run for the Hills event. Students solicit pledges of support and then run laps around the track to demonstrate their appreciation. Funds raised are used to bring in guest artists, purchase equipment and supplies, and fund arts-related events and assemblies.
